El título viene de una broma ( humor tipicamente inglés), o más bien, un juego de palabras, los miembros del grupo decían a menudo que llamarían a la policía del»karma» si alguien se había portado mal… Esta broma fue incorporada en el título de la canción
Aunque sigue siendo una de las canciones más populares y conocidas de Radiohead, nunca llegó a la cima de la lista de éxitos. Esto confirma que las mejores canciones, a veces, no son las más comerciales.
